ABOUT ME
So I lost all of my clients in one night, fortunately I had some savings, but I had no idea what the hell I was going to do. I very quickly looked at the reality of shooting remotely for clients, I started to shoot product photos in the conservatory of my parents house and I started to rebuild my client base. It was arguably the most stressed I’ve ever been, but I got through it!
On the other side of the pandemic I started working with more and more local and National businesses, shooting photos for their social media pages and websites. After a year or so most of my photo clients were also asking for me to produce video content for them, I had no idea how to shoot a video, so I learnt from everyone’s favourite university… YouTube!
I quickly realised how much was involved in creating videos for people. I learnt from multiple people in person, how to shoot video correctly, how to record sound, how to edit. It was a steep learning curve, but I learn fast so that was no problem.
Fast forward to 2024, this was the first year that video out performed photo for me. A majority of the work I’ve done since the start of 2024 has been video projects, I personally love shooting video so this was a very pleasant change for me. One of my biggest video projects was a documentary called “Passion & Practice” this was a documentary following an Artist called Colin and his journey in the world of Art. This video did better than any of my other videos and off the back of that one video I got several more enquiries about similar projects!
As I’m typing this out, it’s January 2025 and already the year is off to a great start. I can’t wait to see what this year holds and who knows, we may even end up working together!
Either way, here is one of the earliest photos of me with that FujiFilm camera, it’s one of my favourite shots of me, my brother, my dad and my grandma (mum took the photo). I hope you enjoy!
First thing’s first, I’m George Hersant-Lisher a Videographer and Photographer based in Hertford, Hertfordshire (UK).
Over the last 6 years, I have built up a solid group of freelancers that I work with on various projects, this enables me to efficiently produce high end photo and video content for all of my clients.
I have always had an affinity with photography, as a kid I loved being able to capture the world around me and document my life. Most of the photos I took as a kid are lost to time, but I remember always having a camera of some sort on my person . My first ever camera (that I remember) was a FujiFilm DSLR in Silver, it was amazing!
So fast froward to teenage George, I was at music college, taking photos of my friends on stage while they performed. They kept telling me that my photos were really good, but I didn’t think much of it (I was going to be a musician)!
That didn’t happen and after college I found myself working at a pub, the owner wanted to get some new photos for there menu and asked if I could do it. The photos were okay, nothing to write home about, but I had caught the photography bug. I purchased my first mirrorless camera and tried to photograph anything I could; food, people, nature, the sky. You name it I probably shot it!
I moved on from the pub and started work at a print lab in the next town, it was here that I learnt to edit photos, I learnt colour theory and I found my love for editing. From there, I started to build up a client base with photography being my “side hustle” (Can’t stand that term). I left the print lab with a year’s worth of paid work and a dream.. The pandemic hit. Nightmare.
